Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his family and the benefits of community service. His first family is that Selmon is the eldest of the nine children raised by Eufala through Lucious Selmon. He played football with three of his brothers from Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the USA. In his three years as the team's starter, Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in 1975. Selmon earned a degree from the university of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering during his college years. Following college, he relocated into Tampa and played nine seasons with the Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro 3 times. Then he started his career. His first job was as a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of ten outstanding young people throughout the United States. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 7-foot-2. While he was in for college, he was the head coach of the team of 1975. In 1993, he became the assistant director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. He has been inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
